In addition to this, I also have a Diploma in TESOL/ESL, working extensively on English language support programmes and academic English courses for students aged 11-16. I am also a qualified Counsellor and University lecturer. I am currently working on a publication aimed at understanding the foundations of English Grammar. | | Subjects and ages taught | I have over 11 years teaching experience, with extensive knowledge and experience teaching phonemic awareness, grammar and foundation reading programmes. When people ask me why I decided to be a teacher, I always give the same answer. Working with children and watching them grow in self- confidence, knowledge and understanding, truly is a wonderful thing. I never take for granted the impact good teaching and learning can have on a child. I love to watch children grow and develop their literacy skills, by teaching them the importance of phonemic awareness as a foundation to successful and lifelong learning. For me, teaching has to be supportive, engaging, creative and patient!!! All of these elements are central to my work with Literacy Circle, and thats what makes the programmes so successful, because the children and their families really can see the results for themselves.
